Yeovil Town Women
Yeovil Town Women FC are the women’s team affiliated with Yeovil Town F.C., representing the town of Yeovil and the wider Somerset community. The team currently competes in the South West Regional Women’s Football League Division One South, part of the English women’s football pyramid below the FA Women’s National League.
Brief History
Women’s football has a strong history connected to Yeovil Town. The original Yeovil Town Ladies side enjoyed a period of national prominence, most notably earning promotion to the Women’s Super League in 2016 after winning the WSL 2 title.
The club competed in the top tier of English women’s football during the 2017 and 2018–19 seasons, facing some of the biggest teams in the country before financial challenges led to relegation and significant restructuring.
In 2021, the women’s side merged with Bridgwater Town to form Bridgwater United, meaning Yeovil temporarily lost its direct women’s team. The club relaunched Yeovil Town Women FC in 2023, rebuilding a pathway for women’s football under the Yeovil Town badge.
Recent Seasons
Since reforming, Yeovil Town Women have rapidly rebuilt their presence in grassroots and regional football:
- 2023–24: The newly formed team entered the Somerset County Women’s League Division One, where they enjoyed an outstanding debut season and won the title with a perfect league record.
- 2024–25: Following promotion, the club stepped up to the South West Regional Women’s Football League Division One South, continuing their development against stronger regional opposition.
The Future
With the support of the club and community, Yeovil Town Women aim to continue building a competitive squad, develop local talent, and progress through the regional leagues as part of the wider growth of women’s football in Somerset.
