Post-Match Report: U19 vs Weston (A)
Yeovil Town U19s Narrowly Beaten at Weston-super-Mare
Under 19s National League Alliance League
Weston-super-Mare 1-0 Yeovil Town
Yeovil Town Under 19s produced a strong and controlled performance but were left frustrated as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Weston-super-Mare in the National League U19 Alliance.

Squad Update and Match Setup
The Glovers welcomed back several familiar faces into the squad. Jaydon Biss and Ollie Hughes returned after travelling back late from Southend but were deemed fit enough to feature, while Blake Watts also rejoined the side following a minor injury.
A number of players had featured in senior fixtures the night before, demonstrating the continued integration between pathways within the club.
Due to pitch availability, the fixture was reversed and played at Weston’s venue on a 3G surface.
First Half
Yeovil suffered an early setback, conceding a free kick on the right-hand side which Weston capitalised on, heading home to take a 1-0 lead.
Despite this, Yeovil responded positively and began to assert control over the game. Their build-up play through the thirds improved, with the team maintaining possession and progressing the ball effectively.
Down the left flank, Charlie Watson and Ashton Brown combined well on multiple occasions, creating several promising openings and half chances.
In midfield, Alec Thomas delivered a commanding performance, supported by Ollie Hughes and Denzel Gurung, allowing Yeovil to dominate second balls and control the central areas.
Second Half
Yeovil continued to apply pressure after the break, with Seb Woods completing his first full 90 minutes since returning from long-term injury. His presence caused consistent problems for the Weston defence.
At the other end, central defenders Jaydon Biss and Blake Watts were solid throughout the second half, showing composure and control to deal with Weston’s attacking threats and helping Yeovil maintain sustained pressure.
George Geraghty worked tirelessly to press the opposition back line, forcing errors and enabling Yeovil to regain possession high up the pitch, leading to increased final third entries.
A tactical change on 70 minutes saw Adam Samuels replace Charlie Watson, adding fresh energy. Samuels’ introduction also allowed for a reshuffle, with James Horrocks coming on for Ashton Brown.
Horrocks immediately looked dangerous, finding himself in several one-on-one situations with the Weston full-back. He created a clear goalscoring opportunity but was unable to convert, firing over the bar.
Despite dominating possession and creating the better chances, Yeovil were unable to find an equaliser, with Weston holding on to secure the win.
Manager’s Thoughts
Speaking after the match, Jamie Phillip praised the performance but expressed frustration at the result:
“We played really well, it’s exactly what we expect to see when wearing a Yeovil Town shirt. We had the most possession, chances and dominated the majority of the game and find ourselves losing 1-0 which is frustrating.”
On the missed opportunities, he added:
“I think being honest the players have to take responsibility and take the chances we create, a bit of quality in and around the box. But I am happy with the amount of chances we created today.”
Phillip also highlighted the importance of translating performances into results:
“There are a lot of positives today, but if we don’t get the result it doesn’t mean much, especially in the senior game which we are preparing the lads for over the next month.”
