Yeovil Town Women Crowned Champions!

Posted on 4 May 2026

Sunday 3rd March 2026 was a tense day for both teams! A win for either side would be enough to be crowned champions and snatch the league title! Weston-super-Mare announced during the week that this fixture would be played on the main stadium for a 14:00 KO.

Yeovil arrived wearing last seasons all green match kit after complaints from the home team regarding kit colour clashes and requested a change from the away team. Politics and mind games put to the side, it was great to see both teams warming up on the main pitch, a great advert for Women’s football.

It was the visitors who scored the first goal on the brink of half time, a direct cross from the right hand side looping over the box to Orla East who managed to guide the ball into the net from an amazing volley! WSM 0-1 Yeovil Town!

The home team came out strong after making some changes, bringing Ellie Burrows on to the pitch who caused Yeovil plenty of issues in the last game! The eventually found the equaliser making it 1-1. Weston piled on the pressure knowing one more goal would change the league table in their favour. However, Yeovil weathered the storm and managed to create a few more goal scoring opportunities before the final whistle was blown and Yeovil Town Women were crowned league champions for a second time in three seasons.

After the game, Manager Dave Court said: “This league was won over the whole season, all those extremely wet and windy nights so fair play to all the staff and players for their dedication and commitment. The real hard work has been happened when no one has been watching. The shift the players put into today’s game was unbelievable!”

Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust: CEO, Jamie Phillip adds: “I’m delighted for Dave, Simon, Sam and the girls. Fully deserved! I don’t think anyone can question their dedication or commitment to this project. From meeting Dave in Dorchester with his coaching team last summer, we were confident they were the right personnel to bring into the club to help us achieve our goals and objectives. Winning this league was always important to us but more importantly it’s the girls who deserve the time, effort and attention. So a huge congratulations to all involved and we are very much looking forwards to next season to continue delivering from our sustainability report!”
